REGISTERED TONNAGE
is essential : this document is issued by the Customs Authorities once they have certified the vessel and carried out tonnage measurements.

"certificat de jaugeage"

  • Case of a new yacht purchased in France

    Serial vessel - standard tonnage
The yacht broker - whether a shipyard or agent - will, upon delivery of the vessel, give you the "builder's and tonnage certificates", or a "certificate of compliance" with the indication of its standard tonnage.

Small series unit, or single vessel built on a professional shipyard
The yacht must be measured before it is launched, and,
    - either the builder carries out this formality,
    - either you get in touch with the relevant Customs Office,
    - or, why not entrust CAP Maritime Services with all your administrative worries.

  • Case of a French registered second-hand yacht

The yacht should be submitted to the Customs only in the case of alterations, which, in all events, must be approved by the French Maritime Office.
CAP Maritime Services is specialised in the certification of yachts and will be glad to help and advise you where legal rules and specifications are concerned.

  • Case of an "amateur" built yacht
You have achieved the building of your own yacht, or you have refurbished it yourself : like all vessels, it is subject to the tonnage certification formalities.
If its draught exceeds 3 tons burden, get in touch with
CAP Maritime Services at an early stage of its construction : a thorough follow-up of the work on site will be set-up and progress duly reported.

CAP Maritime Services will also make sure that the yacht is awarded the certification approval report by the French Maritime Office Authorities.
